  Trinity College Gate in Cambridge

We were in Cambridge on June 8th and the colleges were having exams so they were closed so we didn't get to go inside any of the colleges. It was still interesting to wander about and see the outsides of the colleges and the churches. Cambridge has 31 colleges. The oldest is Peterhouse from 1284 and the most recent is Robinson which was established in 1979. They are clustered around the city center and many of the older ones have gardens that back up to the River Cam. We went into The Great St. Mary which is a huge cathedral built in 1298 and is the official church of the University. Kings College has one of the more beautiful buildings and Trinity College gate is a most impressive gate. Trinity is actually the largest college, founded by Henry VIII in 1547.
