The Isle of Portland is conected to the mainland at Weymouth by a huge shingle spit, with a small bridge connecting the two.

Portland Bill is on the south of the Island & has its famous landmark lighthouse, you can walk to the top, unfortunately Freya just fell short of the height restriction (110cm) So she and I couldnt go up on this occassion. The lighthouse was built in 1716 and stands 41 meters high with a beam range of 26 nautical miles. The lighthouse was only automated relatively recently in 1996.

Directions:

Portland Bill, Portland, South Dorset
