  View from Dresden's Hausmannsturm
by King_Golo

As you might know, I love climbing spires or towers to get an overview of the place I'm visiting. I do so pretty much everywhere. In Dresden, you can get the very best view from Hausmannsturm. It's the tower opposite of the cathedral, directly in the city centre. Hausmannsturm (literally "House Husband Tower") is the oldest part of Dresden's castle and was begun around 1400. At a height of 100m, the tower was Dresden's tallest building for many centuries - nowadays it's only number 6, but out of the five taller buildings, only one is similarly old (and only 3cm taller).
