The Notre-Dame Basilica was built between 1824 and 1843. The work on the interior, however, did not begin until 1874 and was completed 1880.

I decided to feature the interior of the Basilica here as it I found it much more interesting than the exterior. While certainly a grand structure reminiscent of its more famous Parisian counterpart, the outside didn't have the "wow" factor of the inside.

Said to be inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, the interior design is incredibly intricate and finely detailed. The center of the sanctuary has a joyous glow about it while the colonnades below the side balconies are more dark and somber.
