  The Dreifaltigkeitssäule
by seamandrew

The Dreifaltigkeitssäule (trinity column) is certainly one of the most prominent objects on Hauptplatz Linz (the main square). This Baroque column, sculpted out of white Salzburg marble in 1723, stands 20 meters high. The column bears three inscriptions (in Latin), each announcing the dedication of the column to the Holy Trinity by the guilds, the Emperor and the people of Linz in gratitude for deliverance from the dangers of war (1704), fire (1712) and plague (1713). It was carved by Sebastian Stumpfegger.

Directions: At the main square (Hauptplatz) in Linz.
