  Berlin Cathedral
by Frisbeeace

The Cathedral is the most beautiful building I saw in Berlin, a really impressive architectural masterpiece. It is located over the Under den Linden avenue in the museum island.

Although the present building is only 100 years old, the history of the construction and reconstruction of the Berlin cathedral reaches back to the Middle Ages. Finally, the foundation stone was laid in 1894, and the building was finishted in 1905. The main building was heavily damaged during the war in 1944 and could only be used again in 1993.

The dome is 75 metres high up to the base of the lantern. Below the preaching church is a crypt with the coffins of the Hohenzollern family. The cathedral and the Reichstag building are regarded as the main works of "Wilhelm baroque"
