I came here via day-tour from Launceston on Devil's Playground Ecotours.
(The day tour consisted of visits to Liffey Falls, Marukoopa Caves and Trowunna Animal Sanctuary)

The Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its programme in rearing and protecting the Tasmania Devil - effectively the "mascot" of the state. The Devil has since disappeared from the mainland and Tasmania is its last stronghold. This is a most ferocious creature, well known as a scavenger with teeth strong enough to bite through bones. The furious growls it emits led early settlers to believe that the devil itself resides in the woods beyond their settlements hence giving rise to the moniker.

Besides, the Taz Devil, the park is also hone to an assortment of Australian creatures. You can buy packets of feed and feed the ever eager kangaroos and wallabies.

There is a cafe here for folks wanting to take a break and load up on caffeine or sugar...there is a gift shop as well and all proceeds go into the preservation and protection of the wildlife in the sanctuary.
