"Queen Street - The Treasury Building." Brisbane Tourist Trap Tip by Jerelis
Brisbane Tourist Traps: 10 reviews and 8 photos
Right now you can say that the heart of Queen Street in Brisbane has put on a fresh face. The entire street is lined with a colourful mix of heritage facades, historic arcades and some modern shopping galleries.
At the end of Queen Street (near the Victoria Bridge) you'll find the Treasury Building. They say it's "the most beautiful example of Italian renaissance at the Southern hemisphere". They started building it in 1885 and it lasted 40 years before it was finished. Nowadays it is a casino.
Unique Suggestions: Crowds also flocked to the city centre for entertainment. As it is today, promenading was one of the main forms of entertainment and Saturday night was particularly popular for window shopping and being seen.
