Cambridge House: "Old-style coffee shop" Cambridge House Tip by m-gem

Cambridge House, Chicago: 2 reviews and 0 photos

A old-fashioned diner type of restaurant that reminds me of places my family would stop in on road trips when I was a kid - but right in the center of Chicago. They serve all the standards, like French toast, pancakes, omlettes and potatoes (we only went for breakfast). It's busy, with the waitresses bustling about and you feel a bit like they're trying to get rid of you, you get your food and bill so fast, but that's just their style. Both mornings we ate there (they were definitely good enough to go back to) we had to wait a bit for a table, but it's not a long wait.

Favorite Dish: The French toast was pretty good, not the best ever, but you get a big, hot plate of 3 slices, and the old-fashioned warmed syrup dispenser. The cheese omelette was also very good, though almost too cheesy.
