Beaches / Coastlines, Oahu: 135 reviews and 263 photos

The Makapuu Light House hike is also a popular spot for whale watchers. Every year the humpback whale makes its way thosuands of miles across the pacific ocean from Alaska to make babies in the Hawaiian Islands.

Though most of the whales spend their time between Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe, they often make their way into the Molokai Channel (The water way between Oahu and Molokai) to feed and play.

From up top the cliffs of the hike, it makes a great vantage point to observe the passing whales.

*** The picture is of one of the stops along the hike where you can search for whales. There you will find information posted about the whales, and binoculars to get a closer view.
