"The summer residence to various Habsburg rulers." Schönbrunn Palace Tip by BLewJay
Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna: 305 reviews and 625 photos
Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria. The castle was built to rival French Versailles in Baroque beauty and importance (frescoed ceilings, crystal chandeliers, huge mirrors and gilded ornaments). It served as summer residence to various Habsburg rulers...Leopold I started the building of this Palace, Karl VI used it as a hunting lodge and Maria Theresa made it her permanent home. There is so much to see and do at Schönbrunn...jogging, walking, puppet theater, zoo, view the gardens...making it one of the very top attractions in Vienna. As a matter of fact, the entire complex was added to the UNESCO's world cultural heritage list.
Address: Schönbrunner Schlossstrasse 47, Wien 1130
Directions: At Lichte Allee
