The Kapellbrücke - Chapel Bridge in English was built in 1333 and it's 200 meters in lenght. Together with the Water Tower (see next tip), Kapellebrucke is the trademark of Lucerne and Switzerland. Walking on the wooden bridge gives you a view of both banks. Note for travelers with arachnophobia, large spiders have been known to spin large webs and you might see some of the owners while crossing the bridge. This is something that you won't read in the official brochures. And also a hard fact to find is that the fire in 1993 was in caused by a boat moored alongside the bridge that caught fire and the flames extended to the whole structure, leaving nothing but the bridgeheads on both banks undamaged. The reconstruction was pretty quickly set by the municipality - only nine month.
