The Salt Lick is one of the 10 best BBQ joints in Texas. Texas Monthly magazine says so and they should know. The BBQ is done on an open pit in the main building where you can watch then cook and carve at the same time. They specialize in family style plates. They bring you individual plates and then platters of everything else. They bring it until you tell them to stop.

Favorite Dish: Everything is good but what stands out to me is not so much the BBQ as it is the cole slaw. It is a vinegar based German style cole slaw that is wonderful. No mayo in this! Crisp cabbage, sesame seed, and vinegar.

Don't pass up the banana pudding either!
