A mystical path along the trail today
by darthmilmo

The following day started with the continuing arduous climb up steep stone stairs as we made our way to Ghorepani. After an hour of climbing, we stopped for a tea brake at the Nice View Restaurant, which did have nice views. We continued up past the village of Chatre and thru another change of vegetation as we left the Sub-Tropical forest and entered a cooler deciduous cloud forest. We reached Ghorepani (2,750 M.A.S.L.) just in time for lunch at a delicious bakery. The food was so good we opted to spend the night there, even though it lacked the views of the other guesthouses. The town has more of a tourist presence as it is a day or two away from the road and so it’s frequented by those not wanting to do a strenuous multi-day trek like ours. In fact, it’s where all the Pokhara based treks meet each other. It is still charming none-the-less as it has a mountain town feel to it with all the views included. After walking around town, we spent the afternoon playing cards and talking. It is a good thing we were indoors as a dense fog engulfed the town, thus obscuring the visibility. For those finishing the trek at this point, you will need to walk to Naya Pul, about 2 hours and 30 minutes away. You can catch a bus or hire a taxi to take you back to Pokhara or Katmandu at that town. We still had one more challenge to do after Poon Hill, the Annapurna Sanctuary. There is a trail not far from Ghorepani that connects the Annapurna Circuit and the Annapurna Sanctuary treks. I will discuss that in a separate tip.
