  The Temple of Artemis
by Cristian_Uluru

From the propileis there are two stairs which conduct you the ruins of an external porch. From this point there were five doors which conduct in a square courtyard with corinthian porches. The most important part of the temple was inside the temenos.
The cell originally were decorated with marble and it had got a wood roof.
During the Persian occupation and Omayyade occupation in the temple there were shops of potters and a part of the temple was transformed in a castel from the Atabeg of Damascus. The castle was destroyed by Baldovino II, king of Jerusalem.
