Cactus Club, Calgary: 3 reviews and 2 photos
I get many requests from VT'ers who would like to know about restaurants near the Calgary Airport.
I always recommend The Cactus Club, which serves very decent food at good prices. The Cactus Club is part of a chain from Vancouver, BC, and describe themselves as "upscale casual". You can't miss this restaurant, as it has a giant gold buddha on the outdoor patio. I think the "House of Yes" moniker is some kind of connection to the fact that there are some pan-asian items on the menu (thus, the giant gold Buddha). However, the menu covers the world on food selection.
The interior is urban rustic, with some odd touches, such as a stuffed rabbit head mounted with antlers. I can only think it is a wittty tribute to the local joke about the "jackalope" (for more info on the jackalope, please e-mail me)
Favorite Dish: We have never had a bad meal here, so go ahead and order whatever you want. The service is very good, and they use a "team" method, so don't be surprised if you see a new face every time you need something or when your food comes. It is a bit disconcerting, but it makes the service very fast and efficient.
The food here is fairly simple, running along the lines of grilled fish, pastas, chicken fingers, burgers, you get the picture.
There is another location on Macleod Trail in the south of Calgary, but I've been there a few times, and the service is consistently terrible.
