Thuburbu Majus is an old provincial Roman city. The allready longer existing town was declared a municipality by Emperor Hadrian in the 2th century.

At the site you can find the ruins of the forum, the capitol, the temple of Mercure, the Portico of Petronii, the summer and winter baths and the sanctuary of Baal.

Directions: The ruins are 55 KM south-west of Tunis. We went there by taxi from Tunis in combination with our visit to Dougga. The second time we visited the ruins was at our way from Kairouan to Tunis by bus.
