  Bizerte, old port

Bizerte is the northern most town of Tunisia, just a few KMs south of Cap Blanc, the northern most tip of the African continent.

Bizerte has a kasbah and medina with narrow alleyways at the westside of the old port. South of the old port is the French ville nouvelle with a rectangular grid of streets.

We made a daytrip to Bizerte from Tunis and visited only the town and not the beaches around. The nearby beach of Raf Raf is supposed to be one of the best beaches in Tunisia.

Directions: Bizerte is 66KM north of Tunis and easily reached by public bus transport.
