  Towers old and new
by TheWanderingCamel

The towers that dominate the Moscow skyline are not modern edifices of glass and steel - though no doubt they will come, and these days there are tall crane towers all around. However, for now, the towers that stand out are the green-roofed, red and white towers of the Kremlin, the white and gold-domed needle of Ivan the Terrible's bell tower and the massive spire-topped buildings known as Stalin's Seven Sisters - a pair each of hotels, government ministry buildings and apartment blocks and the last one the central building of the Moscow University.
In between there are countless church spires - onion domes of gold and blue, some spangled with stars, others waiting to be restored.
