Vollan Camping: "Cosy riverside campsite" Åndalsnes Hotel Tip by evaanna

I remember our one night stay there as very pleasant. The place was lovely: a mountain river right at the back of the cabins and a rocky mountain with a waterfall on the other side. The road was in the middle. When we arrived at this small - just a few cabins - campsite, we were told by a German guest, who was apparently spending all his holiday there, to go on about 1.5 kilometres to arrange the accommodation with the campsite owners. One of the cabins was free, we had found that out already. As we drove on along the narrow dirt track soon we saw a flock of sheep ahead of us. If you think they stopped and moved away to let us pass, you are completely wrong. Instead, they started running in front of us, not in too much of a hurry so the only thing we could do was to follow them. A nice diversion to our journey. We arranged the stay with the farmers, who were a nice couple and had some lovely colourful traditional Norwegian furniture inside their house (peep into their living room) and went back to the cabins. Our cabin was small but charming and comfortable, in really good taste. The window overlooked the river, its pleasant soothing sound later lulled us to sleep. The shower was in the main building and it cost extra but at least there was no meter so you could splash about a little longer than on the other campsites. It was all so peaceful and close to nature I would have liked to stay there longer.
If all the cabins were occupied, as there are so few, the white building you can see on the hill at the back is apparently a hostel.
Unique Qualities: A lovely spot on the river bank and with its own waterfall too, good starting point for hiking in the surrounding mountains - we saw some Norwegians going trekking in the morning.
