This is a Southern tip

Sweet tea is just what the name implies: ice tea with nothing but tea and a lot of sugar. That is, no special Earl Grey or Darjeeling blends, no lemon, mint, or milk, as they might want to serve it over yonder in England. Sweet tea is such an integral part of the Southern way of life that it is served to children as young as 2. Lee gipper84 is even more an aficionado of sweet tea than I am. He says it isn't really sweet tea until you have 4 spoonfuls of sugar therein.
