"Orignial artwork and dining" Akershus Fortress Tip by bpwillet

This fireplace is from 1634-42 and is in the Romeriks Hall where guests of the King dine. It is one of the few original pieces in the castle to this day. It contains the coat of arms of Governor General Christopher Urne and his wife. It was found in another building and presented back to the castle in the 1900?s. It is only customary that when the King has guests at his table they wait for him to enter and for him to begin eating. When he is finished, so is everyone else. There have been times when he has eaten too quickly much to the dismay of his guests. He has since, I was told, tried to slow down a bit to allow his guests to enjoy their food.
Directions: Seen on the castle tour.
