"Scottish Opera" Edinburgh Things to Do Tip by Nemorino
Edinburgh Things to Do: 1,548 reviews and 3,041 photos
Scottish Opera was founded in Glasgow in 1962. They do their rehearsals and premieres at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow, but also perform regularly here at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.
They also do "touring productions" at other venues in Scotland, fully staged but with a piano in place of the orchestra. For instance in 2005 they toured with Verdi's Macbeth, sung in English, which they performed at nineteen places such as Dundee, Kirkwall and Thurso.
Address: 39 Elmbank Crescent, Glasgow
