"St Patrick's Cathedral at Night" St. Patrick's Cathedral Tip by mydreamquest
St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City: 5 reviews and 10 photos
I was a drunk walking in the lush drownings of a hot, muggy New York City night. I stumbled upon St. Patrick's Cathedral.
It's been around since 1858 and is the primary Roman Catholic Church in Manhatten. In fact it is the largest Gothic Style Church in the United States.
It seats around 2200 people and is over 400 feet tall. The doors have these interesting guild-bronze faces of a woman with a bonnet.
At night it's an enchanting work of architecture. Standing next to gaudy trendy designer stores with catwalk models looking in the direction at the cathedral in a seductive stare of temptation, the St. Patrick's Cathedral is an old soul kind of a paradox that quietly and quaintly lives about the rush of this mad city.
