"Art Till You Drop" Colorado Things to Do Tip by CCW

Colorado Things to Do: 315 reviews and 462 photos

On the last weekend of June, Salida hosts the Art Walk, a weekend of gallery shows, receptions, music in the streets, and other delights. There are art shows in just about every business in town (Pilates and yoga studios, real estate offices, etc.), and they're usually open Fri. evening (5-9 PM), all day Sat., and Sun. afternoon (10-4). It's a fun weekend, and there's something for everyone, from serious collectors to those on a limited budget. For a small town, there's an astonishing variety of art and a wide range of prices. The shows are spread out around the historic downtown area of Salida; maps are available at all participating locations (and probably your motel too), and everything is within easy walking distance (4-5 short blocks). I've listed a few of my favorite galleries under "shopping," but there are plenty more to suit every taste.
