Fast Forward to May 2005, and it looks like he's been eating a few too many pies. It is not a good idea to go from a hard physical training regime to doing nothing, and Matt looks like he has ignored all the advice!
Rowers quite often get quite lardy when they give up. Rowing burns up so many calories it is almost impossible to eat too many if you are in full training, and rowers tend to have huge appetites, which don't alays dimish when the stop exercising.
