Beke's guesthouse: "Homestay in Brasov" Romania Hotel Tip by delavue

Beke's was friendly, although very bare minimum. The beds were not too comfortable, and the water cold, but the location is ideal and the price is around $15 for a double bed. If possible, avoid staying in the overpriced and unfriendly generic hotels in smaller towns and villages, including Brasov. (Actually, you are sometimes left with little options in really small towns!) Homestays or pensions are easy to find, and are usually around 10-15euro a night for a double bed in someone's home.

Unique Qualities: Beke's is listed in Lonely Planet, but they glorify the home. The courtyard is totally charming, with sheep skin being cured outside when we were there, but isn't really anywhere to hang out and it didn't have a "Mediteranian air" as Lonely Planet suggested. Overall, its totally bare, cheap and to the point.

Address: Brasov
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Price: less than US$20
Theme: Pension/Guesthouse
