Its only a 2km walk up to the Kalopetra Monastery and takes about 30 minutes. The monastery is only small and was built in 1784 by the exiled Greek Prince of Walachia, Alexander Ypsilantis. You can have a look inside too to see the iconstasis and decorations typical of these greek churches. Don't be surprised if you smell vanilla here too - the churches use the scented resin from the storax tree to make frankincense and this is what smells of vanilla.
