"Port Stephens: Oakvale Farm & Fauna World" Oakvale Farm & Fauna World - Day Trip Tip by xuessium

by xuessium

Port Stephens is 220 kilometres from Sydney, essentially a 2.5 hours drive north from Sydney via the F3 Freeway.

I came here via day tour, which is always on any day tour itinerary brochure in Sydney. It's a little pricey at almost A$150 per pax (including Hunter Valley).

Oakvale Farm & Fauna World is just another one of the many wildlife parks and sanctuaries that litter throughout Australia. This is possibly my 10th visit to one of these places so do excuse me if I am a little jaded but my guess is that for first-time-folks to Oz, this park will excites with its many indigenious marsupials (eg: kangaroos, wombats, koalas etc) on display. You can roam the grounds and see the animals as well as feed the kangaroos, the ponies and the alpacas, always a thrill for kids. The koala pen has to be one of the most spacious I have seen. Not too bad a place to stop and catch up on your zoology lesson.
