Coit Tower is an interesting work of architecture and is pretty cool to check out. I liked Coit Tower for the murals on the downstairs portion of the tower- and viewing the murals, which depict San Francisco's rich history, is free. The elevator trip to the top of Coit Tower is only about $2.00 or $3.00 and offers up up a 360 degree birdseye view of San Francisco. If you start out at Coit Tower, it is easy enough to finish up there and take a stroll into the North Beach area, which is really cool and could easily fill up an afternoon.
