The National Institute of Amazon Research (INPA - INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE PESQUISAS DA AMAZÔNIA) was created in 1995 to develop scientific and technologic studies and to preserve amazonian species.

You can visit INPA and check out expositions of amazonian vegetation, insects and projects developed by the researchers and also see some amazing animals, such as:
Amazonian alligators;
The Giant Otter (They're just so cute! They're the biggest among all the 13 otter species of the world and one of the greatest predators of the tropical rainforests of South America); and
The Amazonian manatee (Species in danger of extinction, exclusively of fresh water, spread throughout the Amazon basin.)

For kids and nature lovers, it's a nice experience.
