Ben Gurion was the first elected president of Israel and is regarded as one of the most important figures in the founding of the state of Israel. During his lifetime he was considered the "father of Israel" by most. He also wrote an excellent book called "Israel: A Personal History" if you would like to get an upclose and personal look at the founding of a modern dream.
