""Kandela" Fireworks Finale" Dominican Republic Things to Do Tip by starship

Dominican Republic Things to Do: 275 reviews and 359 photos

The Kandela show ended with a glittering display of fireworks which put this show over the top. I didn't think it was possible to make this show any better, but the fireworks were the icing on the cake!

The Roman Columns in the background were lit up in a spectacular display of light which showered over the Chavon River. The picture to the left shows only a small portion of what we saw that evening. Fabulous!

At the end of the show, we did not forget to check out the photos that were taken with the Roman-costumed, centurion guards when we entered the ampitheater prior to the show. The picture with our daughter turned out great and we were more than happy to put out a little extra money for the "souvenir" photo. I believe it cost about $10 for a 5 X 7 photo.

(Tickets prices about $20US (2004 price). The show lasted about 2 hours.) Kandela was definitely one of the unexpected highlights of our short stay in the Domenican Republic and was the second excursion of the day in this country.

Directions: Ampitheater at the Village of Altos de Chavon, near La Romana and located in Casa de Campo.
