  Historic Crawfordsville
by pabertra

Crawfordsville, Indiana is consistently ranked one of the top 100 small towns in America and there is no question why.

The town is loaded with history and has some really beautiful historic homes. This is the home to the only operating rotary jail in the world! Also this is the town where Henry Lane, the man who secured Lincoln's nomination, lived. The infamous General Lew Wallace built his magnificent study here and penned one of the most popular novels of the ninteenth century, Ben-Hur. The tiny Speed Cabin, a known stop on the Underground Railroad is here. In addition to that the old Elston Grove district boasts huge historic homes which make for a delightful walking tour.

The town's main street boasts a few trendy shops, antique stores, and a retro theatre.

Crawfordsville is a great stop to absorb a little bit of history and see what the small town fuss is all about.
