  Palace under the Four Winds
by evaanna

This charming little palace owes its name to the statues of the four winds on the pillars of its wrought-iron fencing enclosing the courtyard. Built around 1680 for Stanislaw Kleinpolt, knighted as Malopolski, Secretary to the King, it changed hands a number of times. In 1801 it was bought at an auction by a merchant Karol Duckert, that's why it is sometimes called Duckert's Palace.
In 1927 it was bought by the Treasury to house one of the ministries, which it still does, even if it is not the same building any more, just its post-war reconstruction.
