"Nice - Carnival" France Things to Do Tip by ant1606

The second half of February is the usual time for the Canvival event held every year in Nice, French Riviera.
Admisison fee to see the floats (allegoric chariots) parade, which begins with the entrance of "King Carnival" followed by 20 or so ironically adobed floats circling through their route in Promedade des Anglais and Palce Massena, with their loads of people throwing and tossing candy around.
This show alternates with the "Battle of Flowers", firstly established in late 1800. It's not really a battle, but rather a way to promote the local flower production and the nearby Marche aux Fleurs (Flower Market Square) street market. Exquisitely dressed beautiful young ladies throw about 2 million flowers to the spectators, and here is the real battle among people trying to catch the flowers.
Directions: Nice, Promenade des Anglais (waterfront) and Place Massena
