  Rock´s Island.
by Bjorgvin

The island Drangey (Rock’s Island) is situated in Skagafjordur in northern Iceland. This rugged, flat-topped island is a bird paradise. Grettir the strong is the most famous outlaw of the Icelandic Sagas (The Saga of Grettir the strong, transl. by D. Fox and H. Palsson in 1974). He lived on the island for a while and was killed there by his enemies (ca. 1030).

In the summer, when the weather conditions are right, there are regular guided boat trips to the island, each trip takes about five hours. Trips to Drangey Island (Ferðaþjónustan Fagranesi) tel. +354 453-6310 tel. +354 453-6503 tel. +354 852-9003
