  death of a duelist

Favorite thing: The Trinity Church cemetery is one of the oldest in Manhattan and certainly one of the most beautiful. It is also notable for the famous people buried here, among them Robert Fulton (of steamboat fame) and Alexander Hamilton, first Treasurer of the United States, and the only signer of the Constitution to be buried in Manhattan. Hamilton was killed in that notorious duel with Aaron Burr - he actually died in New Jersey and his body was brought back here to be buried. The funeral monument - with its suggestions both of Masonry and of the symbolism to be found still today on the reverse of the dollar bill - seems very appropriate.
