My stay in Kila Leufu was without any doubt one of my best travel experiences in Chile. The place is really splendid. It's a big wooden house with large rooms (and huge beds!) and shared or private bathrooms. Those who are tight on their budget can sleep in their own tent in the garden.
Last but not least, the food is excellent in Kila Leufu. A rich and tasty breakfast is included in the room's price, but you are always welcome to ask for supplementary meals. And most of the ingredients is "homemade", from organic Kila Leufu's farm! Finally the dinner is often served in "rukka" - traditional house of Mapuche Indians!!! A unique experience!
Unique Qualities: It’s a little bit « out of beaten track » kind of accommodation. So if you’re looking for night-life activities in Pucón it will not suite you. But if you want to escape from civilisation, to breath fresh air and to explore unspoiled nature it’s a PERFECT place.
Kila Leufu means in Mapugundun (language of Mapuche Indians) “Three Rivers”. And indeed the place is located in a walking distance to three different rivers: Cabedala, Liucura and Trancura. You will also have a perfect view on three different volcanoes: Villarica, Quetropillán and Lanín.
Margot, sympathetic boss of Kila Leufu, has always great ideas how to spend your day. You can explore on foot the surroundings, walk to neighbouring hot springs. She organizes also half a day, whole day or 3 days horse-back riding expeditions. If you want there is also a possibility to climb a volcano or participate in a rafting. For those who like they are even fishing possibilities. Or you can just take a part in normal day-by-day farm activities - you can lear how to milk a cow, make cheese, churn butter, and bake "pan amasado" (typical Chilean homemade bread)...
