  Brechin Cathedral Round Tower, Angus
by stevezero

Brechin Cathedral Round Tower is one of only two surviving round towers of the Irish type to be found in Scotland.
Built in the late 11th century it has a remarkable carved doorway and is capped by a stone roof which was added in the 15th Century.
The tower is only viiewable from the outside. The adjacent cathedral (not as grand as it sounds) houses a collection of carved stones.

Directions: In Brechin town centre, off the A933. Follow brown tourist signs.
