This could be considered as a "Tourist Trap" as well, but since it is actually quite interesting and educational, I am classifying it under "Things to Do" instead.

The elephant dung processing factory is located near Mae Sa Snake Farm in Mae Sa Valley. It shows the various steps of how they make elephant dung, which is high in fibres, into art-deco paper.

The steps are basically:

1. Drying the dung in the sun
2. Washing the dung twice
3. Boiling and sterilizing the dung
4. Bleaching the dung
5. Spreading and flattening the dung on a screen
6. Drying the dung in the sun

Besides being able to process elephant dung into paper, the factory also can process pineapple fibres and coconut husks. At the end of the tour, it is as usual concluded by a visit to the gift shop ;-)
