Bang Saen is absolutely packed on the weekends. Almost all visitors to the town are from other parts of Thailand so Bang Saen is more noticeably crowded at these times than other seaside towns which attract many international visitors. If you have a choice and want to avoid the crowds, plan to visit Bang Saen during the week. I didn't mind so much - there was a bigger variety of street stalls and shops and bars tend to stay open later.
