Right next to the train station is the conveniently located Hotel Schell. It's right in between the two village centers, and located on a quiet and shady side street that runs along the dividing Partnach river. The hotel is cheap, clean, comfortable and has very friendly staff. The hotel was also mercifully shaded by trees, meaning my room was a cool and steady 21 degrees the whole weekend, even when it was in the 30s outside. The only downside is that the view from the balcony was nothing special. Some of the other rooms may have been better, but all I had to look out on was the hotel opposite and a little piece of mountain through a gap in the buildings. Still for 30 euros a night it was excellent value.

Directions: Walk up the Bahnhofstr. that runs to Partenkirchen from the main station, and not the one that runs left to Garmisch, and Partnachauenstr. is the right turn before the bridge over the river. The hotel is signposted just up on the right.
