Selfridges, Harrods, Peter Jones, Debenhams, Marks and Spencers, Liberty...names like these make me think of London and most particularly Oxford Street.
Nowadays new stores are taking over :Next, Top Shop, River Island, FCUK, Zara, Mango so that you no longer know whether you are in London, Nicosia or Dubai.
I used to love the shops in Oxford Street but now shopping is a nightmare. Walking up and down the hard pavements, trying to avoid the crowds makes shopping a chore..
So, either I head to one of the old established stores like Selfridges, or out to Brents Cross where there is room to move.

What to buy: Quality items because the everyday things are in the high street shops in every provincial town.
The book shops in Tottenham Court road still have an appeal.

What to pay: it depends on what you want; but if it is quality you will pay, but get a bargain in that it will last.
