Costa Rica did a good job on preserving its nature. 10% of the total surface is put into national parks and another 25% is also protected from being destroyed by mankind. Do visit a national park. You will pay between 7 and 13 dollars and in this way you will contribute to maintain the rainforest.

The parks open at 7:00 am. When you come early, you will have the best chance of seeing the animals and not getting wet during the rainy season.

Follow the safety tips posted inside the parks, stay on the marked trails and don't touch the plants or attempt to pet or feed the animals.
