There are lots of patisseries in Paris and my all-time favorite is Laduree on rue Bonaparte (please see tip in the Restaurant section). There's a larger branch on Champs Elysees.

What to buy: What I've been doing recently is purchasing the day before I leave Paris a huge box of pastry souvenirs for my relatives and for myself of course. :-) The almond and apple tarts are delicious and so are the macarons.

What to pay: Depends on what you buy.
