"Driving routes - Sofia to Sunny Beach" Bulgaria Transportation Tip by Whitevanman

Bulgaria Transportation: 97 reviews and 96 photos

Bulgarian autoroutes are few and far between. 'A' roads are busy and pothole ridden with some holes as deep as 10cm this makes for lots of last minute swerving as holes appear in the road surface beneath the vehicle 3 metres in front of you, leave any more room than this and the vehicle behind you will overtake you and fill the space.

Driving was especially stressful in heavy rain as some local vehicles may have no lights at all.

Also watch out for the horse and carts that trundle along the verge, there are plenty of them about and they don't have mirrors.
