Balans is a "lively and informal group of successful neighbourhood restaurants", open from early to late. They have 3 branches in London - in Kensington, Soho & Chelsea.

We visited the Kensington branch early one Saturday for a pre-shop breakfast. We were very impressed by the modern and tasteful interior.....not to mention the large non-smoking section!

Service was ok and the restaurant looked clean and fresh - only complaint was that they had a news only radio station playing instead of some music....

Favorite Dish: Breakfast was pretty good value - only a few pounds for eggs & bacon with toast and beans. There were some more adventurous menu items - like a breakfast burrito or eggs benedict. The coffee was ok, though not fabulous.

The lunch & dinner menus sounded great too - perhaps we will be back to try them out soon!

**Recently dined at the newest branch in Chiswick, West London. Had the most amazing Eggs Benedict with seared scallops & crab hollandaise**
