Favorite thing: The Boobook owl is known as several different names including the Spotted Owl, Marbled Owl and the Mopoke (Morepork) because of the sound they make which can be repeated for hours on end. They are the smallest and most familiar owl of Australia. Usually they are nocturnal and roost by day in thick foliage. They are found almost anywhere where there are trees especially in Eucalypt forests and woodlands. The Red Boobook is found generally in North Queensland and in dense rainforest.
