"The Market Square" Market Square - Rynek Glowny Tip by clairegeordio
Market Square - Rynek Glowny, Krakow: 130 reviews and 221 photos
The market square in Krakow dates from 1257, measures 200 by 200 metres and is one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. Landmarks are the Cloth Hall in the centre, St Mary’s Basilica, a statue of the Polish poet, Mickiewicz, the City Hall Tower, and the tiny church of St Adalberts. There are many architectural styles used, including Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and baroque. There are numerous cafes and restaurants around the square. It is lovely just to sit outside one of the cafes and watch the hustle and bustle of all the people, all the pigeons and the horses and carriages. The square was a pleasure to be in, whether it was nice and sunny, or pouring down with rain.
Address: Old Town - Stare Miasto
